Resort Visit - Cancun July 2020

AM Resorts - Dreams and Secrets - Playa Mujeres

When we have the time, we love to travel and visit different resorts.  Last year, we visited ten resorts and stayed at three all in one week.  This post will focus on the two properties that are located north of Cancun Airport in Playa Mujeres.  We are staying at the property right next door, TRS Coral, and could see this resort as we walked the beach.  It looked like any ordinary resort and we were not over impressed with the view we had.  So we had to get inside and see what they had to offer guests.  Luckily, we made arrangements in advance to meet with the sales and marketing staff for the resort.

They required us to enter through the front gate, instead of just walking on the beach into the "back door".  The short, SHORT, taxi ride cost us $12 and was about three minutes long, as we were literally right next door.  Upon entering, we were greeted, temperature taken, shoes cleaned and disinfected using step on mats, and hand sanitizer squirted in our hands.  Having been screened now, we turned our attention to the enormous lobby, with check in areas, restaurants, and bars.  We were immediately presented with some champagne!  Then we walked into the lobby further to see the most wonderful surprise.  This resort was beautiful!  The huge open area in the center looked like a miniature golf course, open sidewalks, pools, and unbelievable plantings and trees.  This was nothing as we had imagined it from looking at it from the beach.  In the picture below, the Dreams resort is on the left, and the Secrets resort in on the right.  To the right of Secrets you will see the TRS Coral resort.

There are two resorts here on one property.  The Dreams resort is open for guests with families, and the Secrets resort next door is for adults only.  Adult guests from Secrets can visit the Dreams resort and enjoy the restaurants and bars.  With so many room options and locations, one can almost specify what they want to see, and how high up they want to be.  Given enough notice, one can even specify a room number!  Needless to say, we found the perfect view of the beach from a corner room, and hope to return someday.  The resorts over so many many amenities; hiking, biking, golf, snorkeling, wellness and spa, and even hosts a dolphin aquarium that is interactive.  If you play golf, the greens fees are included, and they pick you up at the resort in a golf cart!   We even found "Wilson" here at the resort.  He must have been "cast away" and ended up here.  Not a bad place to end up.

The Dreams resort has a special area for families that I really like.  These were little homes or villas with two bedrooms, 2-1/2 bathrooms, kitchenette, and large family room.  They had their own entrance and a small private patio out back.  The cool thing, they were positioned around the "Lazy River" and the kids area was right next door.  This is perfect for a family with some younger members.  The older kids (12 and up) have a nice dedicated area with rock climbing, trampolines, foosball, music, and much more.  The restaurants are so diverse, ranging from French to Brazilian, Mexican, and of course, Italian.  Little pizza shops and hamburger stands were all around with the many bars available for drinks.

The impressive grounds included a tennis and basketball courts, unbelievable spa, wedding services, and boardwalk restaurants that were just lovely in the evening.  I thoroughly recommend you give this resort a try.  Just across the bay is Isla Mujeres, and they host the Zoetry resort for those who wish a bit more Zen in their lives.  It is a smaller resort with less than 100 rooms, but they offer free shuttle services using their own sailboat between the resorts.  Let us know if you would like to try out this location and we will be happy to provide you with a package to include your flights, transfers, excursions, and resort.  -Pat & Candy Schoelen, Agency Owners.
